Activity Title: “Places and feelings” (80 min) School: Rujiena Secondary school /Rujienas vidusskola/ School subject: English Suitable age forchildren: 8-10
Activity objectives:
To exercise the usage of vocabulary in themes - Places and Emotions
To recognize and express emotions from their own experience.
To explain made choices.
Materials needed for the activity:
Worksheets, colored pencils or felt pens, glue sticks, scissors.
Activity stages: Warm-up session Teacher introduces the topic and prepares students. Words related to Places and Emotions are presented on the board together with their meaning if needes.
Individual work:
Students fill the worksheets, draw, paint, cut and paste on their new posters.
Group work:
Groups of 4 students comment their own pictures and emotions.
Teacher's frontal questions for all students: e.g.
Which students drew a hospital? How did they feel there? Why?
Who drew a school? How did they feel there? Why?
etc.
Evaluation criteria: The lesson is effective if during this activity:
Students use topic words correctly and describe themselves.
It encourages the knowledge about others.
Activity results:
Students can tell difference between emotions.
As they complete the tasks, they will develop self-confidence and try to change, improve their emotional state.
