Activity objectives (2 or 3): Introduction of the concept of body language as a way of communicating emotions. To express emotions through body consciously.
Materials needed for the activity: laptop, projector and screen
Activity stages Discussion about body language. Body Language is the communication of personal feelings, emotions, attitudes, thoughts through body movements -gestures, postures, facial expressions, walking styles, positions & distance – either consciously or involuntarily i.e. it is not only your tongue you communicate with but also you speak with your body movements & gestures. Video view. Students watched a video showing kids to express emotions through dance. We talk about the individual emotions like happy, sad, confident, angry, disgusted, hopeful, exhausted, excited, bored, sleepy, shocked, silly, suspicious and worried. Subsequently some students demonstrate different moves for each emotion. Dance to the music. “There is always a feeling in your body when you dance. Try to imagine how a specific emotion would make you want to act. And how would that translate into a dance”. The students explore expressing emotions and specifically anger, sadness, happiness, excitement.
